Birthday Love

What a week it’s been… My Book gets the approval for publishing, my article on autism/spectrum disorder is published by an Autism National Publication, I was featured on the UK’s #1 Parent Blog Website, have had over 2,000 visitors to my blog this week alone from over 25 different countries, and yet the above  is still the best thing to happen to me all week.

Thx little guy for #1 remembering and #2 the awesome gift.

My First Book

I’m so excited to announce that my book will be available in January.  Letters From Dad: Thoughts on Fatherhood, Family and Life. The book will include about five stories by me and also a collection of other stories from various authors.

The hope is this will be the first book in a series of books titled: The Dad Blogger Book Series.  These books will be a handy reference that will find new relevance as children grow.

The Dad Blogger Book Series is a collection of short stories, letters, or articles written by dad bloggers to lend advice, experience, or humor to parents covering different areas of the parenting journey from different viewpoints. The idea is not a comprehensive encyclopedia but a good read with varied topics that can be built on with additional books in the future.

Once I have more info on the release  I’ll post it.

M.I.A.

I hear the end credit music Peppa Pig and don’t hear Jackson screaming like usual for a new episode … So I’m going nuts looking for him… Then I just find him there… Looking at me through the glass… Judging me. I know it.  Mind the front door and screen doors were both closed. 😕

Muhhamad Ali

“I would like to be remembered as a man who never looked down on those who looked up to him.” Muhammad Ali #RIP #DadFirstEverythingElseSecond
He will be remembered as the champ and the greatest ever.  But one only needs to see him around his children to know the man he really was.

Ketchup on Eggs

Who the heck puts ketchup on eggs?!!?? It’s not normal. As a matter of fact it’s un-American.  I am 100% serious when I say that if this kid is a ketchup on eggs kind of guy he’s getting left on his aunt and uncle’s door step Harry Potter style.

All the note will say is: “He puts ketchup on eggs; he’s not welcome in my home anymore.”

Jurassic Park

That time my kid was sick and finally stopped screaming when he curled up on the dog bed and fell asleep:

“First you bring this smelly thing home. Then you give him all the attention and love. Now he gets my bed?? Screw this, I’m out!!!” -Max the Dog

Try putting a toddler down on a normal night, let alone on a day when he feels like crap.  It’s literally an impossible task.  I’d rather spend the two hours trying to herd valaceraptors than what I went through getting Jax to bed tonight.

What i assume putting multiple children to bed would be like.

Weekend Dad Thoughts

How many times do I need to read Ears Are Not For Pulling before these poor dogs catch a break?

Pretzel goldfish do not swim if you throw them in the pool no matter how much you yell at them.

What’s the point of socks for a two year old. They stay on as long as it takes for me to put the other sock on his other foot.

#LiveTweetMusicClass

So if you haven’t ever checked out Circle of Friends Music Class w Miss Felice you’re missing out.  She has stories for days. Hooked up w Brett Favre and Daughtry… Zumba with a glass of wine… All her.  But the best part is. She loves the kids.  We had a ton of fun this semester w her.

Today was our last class so I decided to live tweet the event:

Woke up this morning to a washcloth jammed down the garbage disposal and one of my socks in the refrigerator.

The sock was definitely Jax…  I am however, not totally convinced the washcloth wasn’t his handiwork as well.  I’m not sure how he would have done it. But I know somehow he did.

Does this look like the face of an innocent child?

Mini Monet Part III

So another master piece created by the one and only JCF.  He is a sevant.  This kid is going to make millions selling his artwork, I know it… or he is going to stay in school and get a well paying job when he graduates.  Either way… It’s a win-win.

I have to say… And this isn’t just a typical parent response, but I like this kid’s artistic style.  It’s abstract… It’s colorful and whimsical… and it makes you happy. But that brings us to the million dollar question…

“When is your child’s artwork expendable?!!!???”

There is a very systematic approach to figuring out exactly how to approach this situation:

WHAT IS IT?                          WHAT TO DO?

    Unidentifiable?                       Throw it away

Title Matches Pic                    Keep a week

I can tell what it is                   Keep a month

It says “I love Dad”                  Keep forever

Little man painted a beautiful work of art for Mima’s birthday…
